The Lalique Museum has opened a spacious new exhibition area at Gasthuisstraat 8.
This expansion is very necessary to properly manage the rapidly growing number of visitors. For example, in the first quarter of 2019, four times as many guests were received as in the same period in 2018.
In the display cases, a collection of rare works by René Lalique of international stature will be shown until June 23. This collection could not be exhibited before due to lack of space. During the exhibition, various drawings and gouaches that René Lalique made of jewelry will also be displayed. The collection also includes vases, perfume bottles, and jewelry.
René Lalique also designed a glass wall for Maison Worth in Cannes. This glass wall, which consists of separate elements, will be displayed at De Commanderij in Doesburg. During the exhibition, a preview will be given by already exhibiting one element. This gives visitors an idea of what such a wall will look like at its final location.
Students from HAN are currently working under the guidance of the curator on a holographic project. Within a few weeks, holography will make its debut in this new space in the form of an animation briefly highlighting the life of René Lalique.
