New masterpiece by Lalique's granddaughter

From November 1st, you can admire the new masterpiece Collier Plaquettes Perlées at the Lalique Museum. Lalique’s granddaughter recently donated this Art Deco necklace to the museum. The jewel comes from her private collection and has never before been on public display.

Collier Plaquettes Perlées
A commercialized version of the glass necklace has been produced since 1930. Especially for his wife Marie-Jeanne Anère, Lalique crafted the design with an unusual cobalt blue enamel. It was his gift to mark their move to Viroflay in 1931. After Marie-Jeanne’s death in 1992, the necklace passed to their daughter Renée-Georgette and then to her daughter Katherine, Lalique’s granddaughter.

Mutual Warm Ties
Curator Benjamin Mordehai Janssens has been in contact with various members of the Lalique family for many years, and especially with Katherine. The many conversations with Katherine have shed more light on Lalique as a person and have helped to correct a number of misconceptions about him. Because of these mutual warm ties, she decided to donate the necklace to the museum.
