Accessibility Lalique Museum

Due to the historical character and monumental status of our museum buildings, unfortunately they are not accessible for wheelchair users and people with mobility scooters. Visitors with a walker can only visit the rooms on the ground floor. There are a few steps at the entrance, where assistance is of course available. There are no elevators, and some rooms are located on the upper floors. Recently, new handrails have been installed on the stairs. In the restored Commanderij from 1286, the ground floor is easily accessible for people with a walker. This is also the case for the ground floor of Gasthuisstraat 1 and 8, the garden, and the museum café.

We realize that the current situation is not ideal. This situation will last until 2026, when the new museum building is fully completed. After that, we will be able to better welcome visitors with physical disabilities. In addition, special attention will be given to people with visual impairments in De Commanderij. Do you have questions about accessibility or are you unsure whether you can visit the Lalique Museum? Please contact us before your visit by sending an email to info@laliquemuseum.nl

Start of corridor construction
Visitors follow temporary route

The construction of the glass corridor and the new entrance of the Lalique Museum and De Commanderij will start from August 25. As a result, a new route will apply to all visitors from that date for their visit to the three locations of the Lalique Museum. Whereas visitors would normally go inside, they will now have to take a short walk. Everyone starts their museum visit at Gasthuisstraat 1. Admission tickets are sold there and e-tickets are scanned. Next, visitors can view the Chagall exhibition and the Lalique collection at this location. After that, visitors cross the street and continue their museum visit at Gasthuisstraat 8. To reach the third location – De Commanderij, the old knight’s building from 1286 – walk to the right on Gasthuisstraat to the first street on the right and after 50 meters go through the black iron gate. So, everyone starts at Gasthuisstraat 1 and can receive a temporary route description. This situation will continue until the grand opening of the Lalique Museum, which will take place in 2026.
