Restoration of the Commanderij as the new seat of the Lalique Museum can begin in the old Hanseatic city of Doesburg.
The Lalique Museum in Doesburg has obtained a grant for part of the restoration of the Commanderij of Doesburg, dating from 1286.
The grant has been awarded by the province of Gelderland and the municipality of Doesburg.
Thanks to this support, it will be possible to move the museum in 2015 to the old Knight’s building, which is necessary because the current location in Doesburg can no longer accommodate the visitor flows due to its great success and the ever-growing collection.
In 2015, an extensive and unique collection can be presented at the Commanderij to visitors from all over the world.
The museum also reports that it has acquired a very rare Art Nouveau jewel, “deux femmes,” which is characteristic of René Lalique and the way he depicts women.
In addition, a very special “Oiseau de Feu” lamp by Lalique has been added to the permanent collection.
NB: Only one month left: the successful exhibition “Female Sanctity.”
